Since the pandemic in 2020, we have undergone many changes including restrictions on social interaction and limited movement space in society. Undoubtedly, this brings a major impact on social life such as the lack of face-to-face communication, lack of attention between people, increased stress, and other social impacts that tend to be negative. On the other hand, there is a new habit favored by the community, which is keeping pets at home. As of 2020, around 15.2 million dogs have been adopted in India alone - the number is consistently rising by 0.48 million a year. Dogs truly are man's best friend, increasing physical activity, reducing stress or boredom, reducing loneliness, and can be a companion at home. Their loyalty and passion make them popular pets.
About Wagr
Wagr started out as a pet product company — a GPS and fitness tracker, built in India, to track pets, and their activity levels, and, more importantly, to alert pet parents if their animals violated any geofences set up by them. With the digital revolution during COVID, Wagr aimed at creating a smart pet care platform that helps pet parents with instant televet consultations, learning modules, and articles, as well as an e-commerce platform.

At this stage, we conducted research with several pet parents so that we could understand their needs, thoughts, and problems experienced by them and build the MVP.

Wagr believes that convenience is key for pet parents, which is why the app has various quick links to shop. The platform also celebrates their order by adding a delightful touch to their shopping experience.
Checking in with pet parents after consultation
Wagr's personalized approach goes beyond just providing top-rated vets to users. The platform checks in with users a week after their consultation to ensure their pet's well-being and recommends further consultations as needed.

As I pawed on this app, I applied the theoretical knowledge I acquired while working at an agency and scratched my head to work closely with the founders. Working with Wagr has helped me understand the tail-wagging struggles of pet parents (even though I'm not one myself), and build something pawsome for them. I believe an app need not have a fancy bark or perform complex tricks, but should cater to the fundamental needs and woes of its users.
As I continue to lap up user feedback and work with Wagr to improve the experience, I strive to build something that will make pets purrfectly happy and their parents wag their tails in satisfaction.
